In response to my Little Letter, comes this:

The date should be May 10, 1999 and I am not going to scan this again since you can view the original as linked above. So while we have a response, the question is how honest is the response? The initial question:

My initial question, simply stated is, "Did the breakdown in negotiations come, in whole or in part, as a result of the accounting practices utilized by the UTU with respect to monies which have been transferred from the Job Benefit Fund for the payment of various legal matters and to supplement the general operation of this Union?"

The answer is NO! Is this answer supported by the BLE Letter? Again, the answer "appears" to be NO! Another lie? "u" decide? However, this writer gives "little" credance to the "recall" being the reason for BLE's sudden cold feet. They (BLE heirarchy) were promised the sun and the stars (30 to 40% wage increase, 5 year retroactive pension,  no election until 2005, etc.) and they would have taken their chances with the recall, EXCEPT, they now realize the UTU is not in a financial condition to fulfill their promises, without a hefty dues increase on both memberships!

The last paragraph? Double talk? Little Chief speak with forked tongue? Why "had the uhification become a reality."? Hey, Sac-C aren't you back to the NMB to force the "Reality" with a vote? Don't you have the "team" back in the field selling yourself and your specious vote? Since we are in the greatest financial shape we've ever been in, what is your proposal for the dues at the upcoming Convention?  Does it factor in the repayment of the JBI? This writer and "u're" members would like to know? Gee, I personally think it would be "useful" to know what amount of dues us UTU members will have to pay to facilitate the unification (and the BLE golden parachutes)?

Always nice to hear from you, keep in touch, and  have a nice day!
