This master take of I Found a New Baby contains another
virtually perfect solo by Charles, beginning with a paraphrase of the 4-bar intro riffs.
Some of the highlights: At measure 8, he plays the same A7 lick (except for the
last note) that he played on the last bar of the alternate take-both are one A7 measure
following an F measure. Bar 17 has a straight-time (no syncopation) sequence that CC
used fairly often. And that A7 figure at bar 24 is ingenious.
The entire solo deserves thorough study.
