C&A:

Charlie Christian takes an excellent half-chorus solo on this alternate take of I Surrender, Dear —somewhat similar to the later master take but with more sixteenth notes and more open-string notes.

On bar 2 there’s a familiar five-note figure that Charles would repeat at bar 8 of this take and again in the 2nd bar on the master take;  and at bar 4 he uses the same lick as he would on mm 7-8 of the later take.  At measure 5, he starts his Am run with a familiar staircase sequence and continues for three more bars of sixteenth notes transitioning flawlessly through several chord changes.  The two ascending arpeggios at bars 10 and 11 can be found at the same respective places in the other take.
